What does a memory look like?

Ever since I was little I’ve had this fear of forgetting my own history; more specifically the exact way I’ve felt it. In my work, I use the camera to not just document, but reclaim how I have emotionally navigated my life. My goal when photographing has been to stay as true to my original perception of the world and how I experienced it as possible. I tend to gravitate towards movement, warm colors, patterns, and bursts of light–unsurprisingly, these end up being the things I naturally remember most. This series is a catalog of cycles of depression, anxiety, hope, and longing as those emotions have presented themselves in my day-to-day life. With this thesis, I have been able to take my everyday experiences and recover the aspects that I wish to forever hold onto in a way that feels beautiful and meaningful.
